Sweet and Sour Week

The first part of the week was great!

We were able to go to the Splash Park for the first time this season (thanks to the 100 degree temperature.)

We went to Donovan’s and ate a “Super Fancy” dinner. Brinley loves the Fancy Nancy books and after we talked about the nice restaurant we were going to celebrate Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Bubu’s birthday at, she insisted that she was going to be just as Fancy as Nancy. Oh and was she!!! She once again gobbled up all the attention and basked in it. And daddy gobbled up all the steak and basked in that for a while. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for a truly delightful and FANCY night. Brinley loved it as much as we did.

Later in the Week…

Yesterday Owen got sick for the very first time. We have been blessed throughout this very harsh sick season. When most of the families we know have been going through terrible illnesses, Owen had not even had a runny nose. So I thought I could start telling people just how lucky we were and not two day later… He did all the things sick kids do, throwing up in the middle of the night, couching, running an absurd fever, snotty nose, and looking so heartbreakingly pitiful. I forget just how hard it is to have your baby sick. (Shouldn’t have spoke so soon:)

Today I got my ONE and ONLY wisdom tooth pulled. What a delightful experience that was. No, it wasn’t terrible but I much rather spent the money and time on something else. Plus, I can’t drink out of a straw, Bummer.

Later today Brinley wanted to test out how blisters are created and she was successful. She has a blister on every one of her fingers and her thumb on her left hand. She purposely reached up to the stove and set her whole hand right on it just after grandma took the eggs off. She knows better and I totally thought she was out of that stage, she knows the stove and oven are hot by now RIGHT!!!? I called my mom she said that it is most likely one of many times that kids have to learn from there own experiences. Brinley it would be a lot easier if you just did exactly what mom said to do your whole life:)


After soaking her fingers for an hour daddy put Neosporin on each finger and wrapped it with a Hello Kitty Band-Aid and that really helped.

My Little Pea

This morning Briny asked me

“Mommy can Owen be the Pea?”

Interested to understand exactly what she meant by that I allowed her to show me. She then proceeded to layer pillow after pillow on her brother.

“See mom he is the pea.”

Oh, I get it from the Princess and the Pea, and then she continued to crawl on top of him. Of course this is where my curiosity stopped and I knew exactly what was going to occur. I know you’re a Princess Briny but no sleeping on my Prince of a Pea.

He seemed to enjoy her antics for a while even encouraging her but, that was fast lived when she tried to crawl on him. How grateful I am for the imagination of children, however it can quickly get into some troubling situations.

Answer me This

The other day I was cleaning up before some friends came over. Brinley had been playing dress-up downstairs and had made a little mess. I told Brin she needed to clean up her mess before our friends came over. As she was going up the stairs I faintly hear her say something to herself like” I got to do EVERYTHING around here.” I went to the end of the staircase and asked her to repeat herself. With her head faced to the ground and her shoulders arched down she said “I am just tiered of having to EVERYTHING around this house.” Oh, I thought my little 3 year old you are asked to do sooo much!!! TOO funny, but I got to thinking where does she get that so I asked Justin and we both came to the consensus that we don’t know. Neither of us are aware of saying that so here is the question where do they come up with some of this stuff???

Week in a Nutshell

Well here is a quick overview of what we have been up to…

Brinley and I had some friends over to make chocolate covered marshmallows, the kids loved dipping the marshmellos weather it be chocolate in their mouths or all over their clothes, it was fun:) They actually turned out pretty cute.

Brinley wanted to have a sleepover so this is what we came up with ...
Daddy rented us “Desperoux” and bought us candy. We set up the blow-up mattress and sleeping bags in the living room and we got the party started. Mommy and Owen passed out about 10 minutes into the movie. Daddy held out for another 30 minutes and our little trooper Briny watched the whole thing, and was still ready to bash, she was so excited!!!

We kept a window open and could hear the rain pour down, it took me back to the good ole’ days in Louisiana. In the morning Brin got her rain boots on a spent most of the morning splashing around in the puddles, as her audience watched.

We finished preparations for Easter by coloring eggs. Grandma Sage introduced Brinley to eating hard boil egg with salt and pepper and she loves them. After learning that she could eat all the eggs that were badly cracked we ended up with a whole lot more cracks in the eggs, but she enjoyed herself and all (4) eggs she ate.



Last is the picture of an attempted bunny cake. In my head it looked way better, I would like to blame the kids for this creation but no it was mostly my doing (with a little help.) I definitely debated posting this picture but Brin was so proud of her work. She called it “The Most Beautiful Kitty Cake.” Aunt Krisy and Erica, I know I need a little work but its not that bad right?:)

Ditch Day

Justin pulled another “Ditch Day” and took me to a Spring Training game yesterday. I just can’t believe that it took us until the very last week of Spring Training to get to a game, that was literally walking distance from our front yard. We watched as the Camelback Ranch Training Facility was built and it turned out great (I mean if you are interested in that kind of stuff). The reason I love going to a baseball game is for the nachos (with jalapenos and extra cheese). When Justin was playing or coaching I would ask him if that game would have nachos and then I would decide if I wanted to go REALLY. The nachos yesterday we wonderful, therefore I did enjoy the game, plus the 73 degree weather helped. Brinley stayed with her Aunt Rachel and watched movies, so mommy got to hang out with her two handsome boys all by herself (jealous I know:) For dinner we went to one of our favorites Thai Lahna. We decided to get it a bit spicier than usual while Justin loved it I still think my lips are burning. It never disappoints I still enjoyed every bite. I love unexpected ditch days!!!!

Owens "New Do"

Okay I know he probably didn’t need a cut yet but I have been dying to get my shears on him:) I faded his pretty blond hair, Justin couldn’t really tell but here he is after is first hair cut.
