The Floods Have Arrived

Every once in a while I go on a creative kick I seem to get all my creative juices flowing and just as quickly as it gets going all those juices dry up and their seems to be a drought for a season. Moving into the home 1.5 years ago really seemed to stop those creativity bugs. Months of planning and some painting, doing furniture, laying out the backyard, on and on was all enough for me. But it came back this month in full flooded force. I’ve got Justin wondering when he will have a clean house and a few extra bucks back in his pockets. Not quite yet buddy I still feel the rain:)

Here are just a few of my new adventures on a dime….

I had an old picture frame that I overlaid fabric and added ribbon to so it could double as a hair bow hold (that we desperately needed.)



A lovely friend donated these wonderful chairs to us and this is what I did with one of them. I needed a place to sit and watch as my children enjoy long, long baths. It turned out all right I since have painted the flower in the bathroom colors just to add sum umph! I still have 3 more to play with in other rooms. Oh and I have BIG plans for this bathroom if I can get Justin aboard. New-framed mirrors, fun light fixtures, and more.

My very talented mother has been so excited that I am attempting to sew these days even buying me a pattern and fabric to make Brinley this dress as part of my b-day present. I am not close to what you can do mom but I am trying. Each time it seems to get better, maybe in a few years I will get it. (Don’t look to close or you will notice that the turtles are upside down, didn’t realize that until Brin had been wearing for an hour, oh well.)

I love these bows I tried to make two different kinds the blue one took me forever and was much harder so I don’t think you will see Brin wearing many of those.

We are getting ready to re-do the "Play Closet" for more fun to be had, I will post that later.

So, for now I am riding this wave but we do live in Arizona so there is bound to be a drought soon.

What happened in June?

We discovered Owens love for wearing stuff on his head. His new favorite is Brinley’s princess crown that he carries around all over. (He also loves his baseball cap:)

So handsome!!!

Brinley continues to use her “Princess Mask” she is such a trooper often reminding mommy to use it. Still hoping she grows out of this.


I found these two enjoying a summer night (way passed bedtime) eating fish sticks and chicken nuggets. Gotta love late nights with daddy!!!

Brinley went to the circus with her Grandma Otis. Like we expected the elephants were her very favorite act. She couldn’t stop talking about her favorite animals for days. And of course she is “OUR” child so the food was absolutely important. Hot dogs and cotton candy can’t beat that. Grandma and Brinley sat only 4 rows up and enjoyed all the up close and personal performances. Thanks Grandma!!!

4th of July

Once again we get to celebrate the establishment of our Country. I am very grateful to live in a country of so many liberties especially of religious freedom.

Boy did we celebrate (or tried to.) Justin ended up being pretty sick most of the week and took it easy, after a round of golf with his dad and brother. I know Justin’s sick when he misses a meal particularly one of this caliber. We enjoyed the great ward breakfast and didn’t go hungry at my moms. Brinley ended up spending the night with Grandma and Grandpa so mommy could take dad home to sleep. Justin and I missed the fireworks but I called frequently to get the update they even had PINK fireworks I was told.

Brinley HAD to eat all her other food so that she could enjoy this treat she had been eyeing all night.

Owen literally sat in his highchair and ate for an entire hour. He ate a least 5 pieces of watermelon on top of various other things.
