Elmo and Earrings

I am terrible with jewelry I lose it so easily, well let me just be honest I lose everything easily, my cell phone, wallet, car keys, EVERYTHING (I have managed not to lose Brinley, YET:) So, I have been asking for cheap jewelry stuff I could lose and not cry over.
Justin and Brinley got home after shopping for Mother’s Day Friday night and I asked Brinley “What did you buy momma?” And she proceeded to tell me with a smile “An Elmo card, necklace, earrings.” Followed by a stern “No, no, momma!”

I guess Justin knowing his wife all to well that I would try to pry out information from my 2 yr old tried to get her to tell me no, no. Unfortunately for him she told me that after she spilt the beans. I woke up early on Sunday and found an Elmo card, earrings, and a necklace, just as Brinley told me. I don’t like surprises anyway I thought that was too cute!!!!

Mother’s Day may just be one of my most favorite days of the whole year. I know that I have only had a few but, the few I have had have been great. It is a day that I can reflect on just how amazing it is to be a MOM. I don’t take for granted the ability I have to be a mother, I know that there are going to be trails through out the process of raising children but (as someone once put it to me) “When you become a parent you pick-up one end of a stick and you don’t let go through whatever ride you are dealt.” But it is worth it all. Thank you Brinley for allowing me to be a mom you are my sunshine!!!!

Brinley's 1st Pedicure

Yesterday we celebrated Mother’s Day with my mom. We sent her to the spa to get a massage and a facial, later my 2 sisters, Brinley, and I meet her for pedicures. Yes, Brinley got her first real pedicure with a flower and all. (I don’t think I got my first pedicure until I was going to prom.) She found the massage chair to be the coolest thing in the world. She informed us that there were monsters living in the chair, yet she didn’t mind lingering in the chair long after her pedicure was done!

Aren’t her toes so cute!!! Mine are already swelling, thanks to poor circulation due to many sprained ankles, and torn ligaments (BASKETBALL.) I remember our trainer telling me that I would most likely have trouble with circulation for good, but being young and ignorant I didn’t do all the necessary exercises that may have helped. Oh well, just wait until the 9th month I’ll be walking around on BALLONS.

Relaxing Sunday

Most Sundays we spend with my parents (Mama and Papa Sage) and siblings. We love spending time with each other, I also like it becasuse I don't have to cook. Brinley especially loves it because she gets ALL the attention, being the only grandchild.

Sick Day

Justin took a sick day yesterday, he was up all night feeling nauseous. He was complaining that food wasn't sitting well with him, he was hungry but nothing sounded good. REALLY!!! I haven't felt like that since EVERYDAY FOR THE PAST 5 1/2 MONTHS. Sounds a bit like sympathy pain. Only he isn't losing his waist, and gaining the sensation of a fishy swimming in his stomach. As you can probably tell I wasn't the most sympathetic wife. I drug his nauseous self to the Splash Park and then to get some pizza (that we both ended up sick on.) Other than both feeling like we were going to explode at anytime we had a good time. Brinley loves the freezing water!!!

Justin woke-up this moring feeling much better, my sickness on the other hand, didn't go away when I woke-up. We just keep trucking along.

Surprises Galore

Well this weekend was eventful (to say the least)!!! My mom and dad both turn 50 yrs old this week and our family successfully pulled off two surprise parties.

On Friday my Aunts and Grandmother flew in from Utah. This was the 1st time in almost 10 yrs that all the siblings were together here in Arizona. We surprised them at the Cheesecake Factory (they had no idea) and ate dinner. It was so nice to see my dad enjoy his sisters and mothers company. He almost reverts back to a kid so happy and excited to share life’s experiences in his own element. Can I add really quickly how much I love my Grandma Deaton, I think everyone knows someone in their life that emulates all that is kind, patient, accepting, and humble. She is what I strive to be, but I need a huge dose of the refiners fire for sure.

The second surprise party was headed up by my Grandma and Grandpa King, and held at their home where 115 people came celebrate the life of my parents. My Grandparents are all about FAMILY and the GOSPEL and so in our life’s have been enriched with an amazing support system, that was evident form all the fantastic people that we there. Brinley is so blessed to have had 8 Grandparents there that night that love and are examples to her. AMAZING!!! I am so thankful for diligent parents and grandparents that have taught us the way of happiness.

What a fun but exhausting weekend, don’t we live for time like this? I have had time now to reflect on the true meaning of life; Family and the Gospel.

Mommy doesn’t do it right!!!

To give me a little time to myself at the end of the night Justin has been putting Brinley to sleep. They have a little routine prayer, 3 books; tuck in Mr. Boo, then Brinley, a kiss and lights off “goodnight”. I have occasionally stuck my head in to watch or knelt in prayer with them. The other night Justin was so busy and Brinley was ready for bed (she lets us know when she wants to sleep) he asked me to put her to bed. How hard could that be!!?? I followed the nightly routine after the kiss I turned out the light and cracked the door just a little and walked out. I thought to myself “there is nothing to it!” Before I could get down the stairs Brinley let out an awful scream saying something I couldn’t understand. So here comes daddy to the rescue, up the stairs. I peeked through the door as Brinley explained “Momma, didn’t say goodnight.” Still crying, “Momma didn’t do it right!” Justin knelt by her bed and said “I’ll tell momma to say goodnight sorry baby, she didn’t know.” I guess he was trying to make me look better. So now I don’t just have a husband with a bit of OCD I have a daughter with it too.

Boy or Girl

Well, we went to the Doctor AGAIN to find out what we (I am) are having. She looked and looked and finally she said pointing at the little bottom "What do you see?" and I said "It's a boy isn't it." It is a boy, Justin was in shock for about a day. He was sure we were going to have all girls (and he was okay with that.) We both don't know what to do with a boy, and I am trying to figure out what cute accessories I can put on him. We are just so excited to be having another baby. I continue to be sick most days but I just keep trucking. Brinley is keeping me on my toes. I now let her watch a bit more TV to give me a little extra time to either lay down or throw up:) I had hoped to just not gain as much weight as I did with Brinley during this pregnancy. At this point with Brinley I has gained as much weight as I was supposed to through the whole pregnancy. I am now just a bit under normal weight gain, so be careful what you wish for. I am thrilled to decorate a baby boys room I guess I just need some ideas. Baseball obviously was one I thought of first.
